Podcasting can be a great way to get your message out into the world, build your brand, connect with potential customers or build stronger relationships with the ones you’ve got.  It can also be an amazing creative outlet if you’re like me and need somewhere other than random scraps of paper to house your ideas.

When I started in radio over 15 years ago if you wanted to host your own show you had to find a way to penetrate the vault-like radio industry.  Unfortunately, the only way to get your foot in the door was with a demo tape and the only way to get a demo tape was by spending time in a radio studio…clearly someone didn’t think that one through.

But now, some of the biggest shows in the world exist entirely online and are created by people broadcasting from their lounge room with zero radio experience.

As more and more people find success podcasting, companies are concentrating their efforts on improving technology for these at home presenters.  As a result, there are so many incredible (and affordable) options out there but when you’re starting from scratch it can take a lot of hours, a lot of mistakes and a lot of Googling to to work out what you need and what the heck to do with it when you’ve got it.

How do you learn how to present a show when you’ve never spoken into a microphone before?  How do you find out all the things that can go wrong when you’re recording without having to make the mistakes yourself? How do you get your head around show structure, show planning and what content will connect with your audience (especially if you don’t have one yet)?  How do you learn how to edit your show so it doesn’t sound like you’ve taken to it with a hacksaw?  How do you decide what production you’ll need or where to find someone to make it without having to sell a kidney to pay for it?  And finally, how do you find out how to get your show from your head into people’s ears without spending eight hours a day lost in Google?

How to make your podcast sound professional using SkypeAfter years of producing and presenting shows for major radio stations and podcasts and creating content for print, online and television I’ve developed PodSchool to help you cut out all the trial, error and Googling and learn how to podcast, fast.  PodSchool is a course that not only takes you through all the practical aspects of how to get a show online but also covers how to present and edit like a pro and come up with compelling content, week in week out.

I truly believe that just because you’re putting a show together in your PJs, doesn’t mean it can’t sound like it just rolled out of a professional radio studio.  You don’t need to invest a huge amount of time or money to make this happen, you just need to know what you’re looking for and what to do.

There are a lot of really high quality podcasts out there so turning on the mics and hoping for the best isn’t going to cut it.  But how do you compete in an already crowded marketplace when you’ve got no experience?

  • You could buy every piece of equipment known to man and attempt to work out what’s best for you – in my experience this results in purchasing the wrong thing about 17 times before you find something that fits
  • You could spend months refining your show and potentially lose whatever listeners you do have,if they’re not willing to wait around until you take the training wheels off
  • You could find out the hard way that putting a show together is about more than just hitting record and talking into a microphone

Getting things right takes time, effort and knowledge.  Wing it for long enough and you’ll eventually get there but if you’re starting from scratch it can take years to find your groove.

So why don’t we speed up the process by doing it together?

Find out exactly what you’ll learn in PodSchool…

I’ll give you all the skills and knowledge to set up a home studio, record a show and present it like a true professional.  I’ll also give you tips on how to edit so you sound like a one-take wonder and add audio elements to your show to make it sound like it rolled straight out of a radio studio.

And I can do this even if you have absolutely ZERO experience.

I want to help you avoid blindly stumbling around in the audio dark and give you everything you need to make sure your show is at its best from the moment you press record on your first episode.

Still not convinced?
