You've Gotta Start Somewhere Episode One - WIPPA

Michael Wipfli a.k.a. Wippa

Fitzy & WippaWelcome to the official first episode of You’ve Gotta Start Somewhere (#YGSS).

This week I chat with Wippa from NOVA’s Fitzy & Wippa about (amongst other things) how a ‘magic box’ got him his first job in radio, why he was sacked as Hamish & Andy’s panel operator, the lengths he goes to for his ideas, the worst celebrity interviews he’s ever done and what he has planned for the future.

March 24, 2017 by Gcreate from Australia

If I know Corbett and I think I do - she doesn't dissappoint with this new entertaining poddy full of Corbett style relatability and humour you struggle to get elsewhere. Gotta Start Somewhere is the fly on the wall that gives you a peak behind the curtain/under the hood/mirror mirror of well known faces, before they were faces/voices. Jolly good.

Rachel Corbett shows once again that she is the essential down to earth presenter who naturally comes across as the kind of person you want to interview the people you've seen and heard on Aussie radios and TVs. No egos, just a good honest chit chat.

Ok. I got the sample pack ,thanks. I would like to order one of everything thanks ? . Excellent stuff. 57:05 - Did he really not know what a pecan nut was on Millionaire Hot Seat?

Wip's musical outro

58:48 ... he plays out the podcast with a (short) rendition of Sexual Healing

Additional bits and pieces

This is the section where I shove a bunch of things we spoke about in the episode to make sure you’re fully up to speed…

This is Guy Grossi, the bloke Wippa often gets confused for (don’t worry, I hadn’t heard of him either)…

Wippa

Fitzy and Wippa pitching ‘The Mup’ to the investors on Shark Tank (this footage really shows the perils of designing the Mup with a ‘peel back lid’ instead of the ‘tear back flap’…also note the mascot…thanks NOVA)

Fitzy & Wippa’s ACRA award-winning parody song ‘Cookie Jars’ featuring a highly coerced Lupe Fiasco…

Here’s irrefutable evidence Jeremy Renner did NOT want to be on our show (or more specifically, standing next to me)…

Merrick and the Highway Patrol

Wippa’s appearance on Millionaire Hot Seat where he didn’t know what a pecan was…

What ‘Sexual Healing’ is supposed to sound like when Wippa’s not butchering it…

If you like the show, please subscribe so you don’t miss an episode, leave a review and share it on social media with the hashtag #YGSS.

On the next episode, I chat to comedian, Merrick Watts about the first time he saw Rosso perform, how he thinks he’s evolved over the years, what frustrates him about the radio industry and why he’s taken a keen interest in pre-colonial agriculture (WTF???).
